By Romario Flores Staff Writer This season, the Hubbard soccer team faced a lot of issues. They were eliminated from the Pepsi Showdown and missed 2 conference games because of the CTU strike. One of the conference games missed due to the CTU strike was vs. Kelly and the other vs. Little Village. They didn't get to make these two games up. Regardless, they still had a good starting 11 players and had a solid season. Another issue that hampered the season this year was that they were unable to compete in the State tournament because the school wasn't registered by the athletic coordinator. The soccer team wasn't the only team that was unable to attend the State tournaments, all of the Hubbard sports teams couldn't play. This was the first year in history that the Hubbard soccer team didn't go to the state tournament. Many of the seniors anticipated this season because it was going to be their last, and for most, it was the first time they were able to go to the Pepsi showdown to play for our school and represent the city of Chicago. In the end, they only got to play one game in the Pepsi showdown and they ended up getting eliminated because of the CTU strike. This season may have been cut short and it wasn't everything that the team hoped for, but they still had a lot of fun and made a lot of great memories that they will never forget.
